problems joining a windows 7 prof. laptop to a server 2003 domain.
The usual approach with 'connect computer' did not work. I got a message that I needed a local account with administrator rights. Because I was allready logged in with such an account I tried another approach. I was able to join the laptop to the domain by manual chainging the workgroup name into the domain name. After that I was able to log on to the domain with an existing account. But soon after Windows started I got a pop up with the question to provide an admnistrator account and password (probably to install applications that I assigned in server 2003 to this laptop). That was a good sign but then I got the following message: 'this program has known compatiblity problems'. program: Microsoft Windows small business serverpublisher: Microsoft Location: \\server2003\Client\setup\ssetup.exeI could install the applications manually I suppose, but has anybody a real solution for this issue between Windows 7 and server 2003?

Hi, Can you tell me what program cannot be installed? Is the machine in domain now? At this stage, I suggest you try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Add the machine to domain and login on the machine with a domain user which has enough permission to install program. 2. Perform a Clean Boot to check the result. If the issue persists, please capture the error message and upload it to the Skydrive ( www.skydrive.live.com ) for research. Thanks, Novak
