problem with homegroup
please help me: when i want to set a home group in my pc (windows 7) i see this message: windows can not set up a home group in this computer. and in event log i read this:" The HomeGroup Listener service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. when i start home group listener manually i get the same message. what can i do?

Without more detailes I could hardly guess what is the cause of your troubles. 1. Disable for test antivirus program you are using 2. Disable firewall to exclude its influence 3. Look into Services and go to the properties of HomeGroup Listener service and troubleshoot the dependences. Regards Milos

Hi, Please click Start, type in services.msc and press Enter. Check if the services DCOM Server Process Launcher and RPC Endpoint Mapper have been started. If not, start them. Then, check if the services Remote Procedure Call(RPC) has been started. If not, start it. Thirdly, check if the services Security Accounts Manager has been started. If not, start it. The Fourth, check if the services Server has been started. If not, start it. Now, we can try to start the service HomeGroup Listener. If you encounter any error message during start the services above, please paste them here.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support
