pptp vpn login errors
I am trying to add a vista computer toa network. It works fine on my work network, but when I take it home and connect to work from my pptp vpn it creates a problem. I can connect get on to some of my applications just fine, but if I try to access a server via \\servername it starts to get a little weird. It pulls up my credintial box where I proceed to login and it tells me invalid username and password. A short time later my account willl be locked and I have to go in and reset it. We run server 2k3 through a watchguard firewall. I do not have this problem on any of our xp machines. Any help would be appreciated as I am losing patience.

Hi sheetman, Before we go further, I would like to confirm the following items with you: 1. Is it a domain environment? 2. Do you mean that you can establish the VPN connection to work and access some of applications through the VPN connection, however, you cannot access any share folder through the connection? Meanwhile, please perform the following steps for troubleshooting: 1. On the Windows Vista machine, open Register Editor (regedit.exe), and modify the following registry entry:Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\LsaValue Name: DisableDomainCredsValue Type: REG_DWORDValue: 1Note: Please backup the registry key before performing the above step. 2. Restart the Windows Vista machine and check the result. Hope it helps. Sincerely, Joson Zhou Microsoft Online Community Support

Yes it is a domain environment and you are correct I can't access any of the shares I get a username and password authentication failed error. I can connect through the vpn, access some of my programs and even vnc to other computers on the network. But when I try to access shares on the servers I get this error.

Hi sheetman, I would like to confirm if you have tried my solution in the previous post. For your convenience, I've included the suggestions in my last post as below: 1. On the Windows Vista machine, open Register Editor (regedit.exe), and modify the following registry entry:Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\LsaValue Name: DisableDomainCredsValue Type: REG_DWORDValue: 1Note: Please backup the registry key before performing the above step. 2. Restart the Windows Vista machine and check the result. Sincerely, Joson Zhou Microsoft Online Community Support

I must say thank you!! As this is our first vista machine we are implementing on our network and that was the last bug I had unresolved. After two months of working at it so simple of an answer. Once again thank You.
