power scheme keeps changing
i installed windows 7 rc 2 days ago. it has been running fine until today. i noticed the monitor shut off. i checked power options and it has 2 there. 1 is name edison 1 named balanced (recommended) i can choose either and change the setting to never turn off display- never put the computer asleep i deleted the edison power plan. exit out of power option go back to power option and edison is there again and selected. i deleted it and it reappears. i even created 3 other power plans and deleted edison again but every time i leave and come back the edison is there and is selected and is set to turn off the monitor after 5 minutes - put the computer asleep 10 minutes my question is why does the edison option reappear and is selected? i have went into advanced options and set everything to never turn off. is this a bug?? i think so but just want to know if this is happening to anyone else?

At first glance it looked like you were running http://209.85.173.132/search?q=cache:115oIuu03FMJ:www.downloadsquad.com/2009/04/22/edison-helps-your-pc-conserve-engery-save-you-money/+%2B%22windows+7%22+%2Bedison&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=usbut you would already know what you run, so yeah I'm mystified. I dont work for microsoft and if I did it wouldnt be on power, but they wouldn't name a power plan after another company, (would they?) "Balanced", "High performance", "Power saver" are all I see.

The only 3 power options I'm seeing are "Balanced" "Power Saver" and "High Performance"It would seem to me that you might have installed something that's installed this power plan and is keeping it alive by restoring the configuration. A quick check of Google - and there appears to be a power saver application for Windows XP and Vista called "Edison" and the documentation says it's supposed to make the default Windows power plans work better. You might want to check the Programs and Features section of the Control Panel to check to see if you've got anything installed that may be trying to force you into being "green"...

Free food?If youre not deliberately running the edison utility, it could be a virus masking as a legitimate program?
