i am having windows 8 pro on a Dell XPS 15. I had a game from 2007, Brian Lara Cricket. I wanted to play it recently but I came to know  that there are quite some complications as to the compatiblity on windows 8 is concerned. It wont install some driver and was also giving some media error. I tried out some fixes given in net, but nothing worked out. 

So, I thought of something else, I installed a virtual machine with windows 7 and installed the game on that. but the funny thing was that, i got the same media error. now i don't understand what i need to  do to somehow play this game.. and many similar games from my old collection. will all that be for waste?

The game will have compatibility on Windows 8. However, based on my research, it can be installed on Windows 7.

Please right click the setup file and select compatibility troubleshooter for a test.
