permission problem
Another weird thing is that if I try to mess with the file permissions sometimes the file will just disappear. Could this be a currupt MFT record?

Hello I am currently using Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and I have been having problems with a few files and their permissions. The executables, after being saved to disk or downloaded and unrared, have no security settings that I can view. Some don't even show their icon (which I take it the system doesn't even have access to the files resource section?). These files see to be random and I can't do a thing to them including cmd's takeown, icacls, admin account, etc. The only thing I can do is restart in safe mode and then BAM everything is ok. I can even set my account to full permission, and the folder to not inherit from it's parent and to not be read only but when I restart out of safe mode it is back to locked? Why are the permissions so different from safe mode to normal mode and why are these files locked like this even when I change the permissions?

Hi, Please let me know what is the exactly error message you received when trying to run or modify the executable? Where are they from and saved? The issue can be caused by many factors. It seemed the issue didn't occur in Safe Mode. Please also perform the Clean Boot to check the result. If any security software or firewall is running, temporary disable them. How to perform Clean Boot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 I suspect the issue causes by virus. Please scan for the computer to ensure it is clean. Also try creating a new account in safe mode and then log on with the new account again.
