offline files/folders queries
Hi all, i have 2 situations relating to offline files/folders that im hoping someone can assist with.1) A users travels between 2 offices. One office has her home drive locally, from the other, it is (obviously) remote. The link between these offices is quite decent (10mb) - and is therefore not picked up as a slow link by offline files/folders. The files this user users from her home drive are very large, and therefore slow to access across the 10mb link. Is there anyway, short of creating a policy with different slow link settings for this user, i can vista to use the offline cached copies - while this user in on the other office ? Preferably ofcourse being seamless to the user. (ie im aware we can browse and use the offline files cache - but its not really a nice solution for a user)2) Offline files/folders when connected via VPN : Because of the massively varying speeds of VPN connections, we've found that using link detection does work to well - and actually results in some LAN users being put into offline mode. The idea of assigning a group policy assigned to a AD site covering the VPN users also seems to be out - as a computer policy wont be applied to said VPN users - as their PC is already started by the time they VPN in (cisco VPN client, not MS). The goal is to have VPN'ed clients always using cached files in offline mode - but we need a better method than slow link detection to detetmine this... any ideas ?
