ntvdm.exe is using all the cpu power.
Running xp pro and it is running slow. i notice that 2 entries in the process list are the same and each using 45-50 of the cpu capacity. They both show as ntvdm.exe. I have never even noticed that file running before. I also notice under applications running it lists nwwia. I don't know what that is and it is not obviously running, but my cpu usage stays at 100% virtually all the time right now. Anybody help?10 people need an answerI do too

I get this also. I think mine is caused by Norton 2011. It started soon after that. The only thing I've been able to do is kill the process in the Task Manager and I can continue after that until my PC has been idle for the 10 minutes I have it set to in Norton. I need a better answer than this.

Since there are others waiting for answers, this is what I found in my Norton forums. There were a few suggestions, but I took the malware one first. download and install Malwarebytes here http://www.malwarebytes.orgI haven't completely determined if this has worked yet, but I did find 6 things that needed cleaning off. And, since a 16 bit app is obviously trying to run, I'm hopeful that it will do the trick. The person needing help in the Norton forum couldn't even get to that website. Give it a try and see if it helps. I'll post again if removeing the malware helped (or not even).
