now that I have updated my computer cannot reboot.
I cannot reboot my computer after undating my windows xp security package- am not sure if it was securtiy essentials or not- don't think so.I had a root kit and used the Partizan program unhackme, which worked well, but I think either regrun or, less likely, AVG is conflicting with the windows update. It will not let me restore or do much of anything.I do get a blue screen message telling me to stop:0X0000007E (0XC000001D, 0X8057008, 0XBACCB508,0XBACCB204)I am VERY unhappy about this- I had just got my computer all clean and was just trying to keep it safe, and then this!please help, and please give very exact instructions.thanks!1 person needs an answerI do too

I don't think your computer was clean, especially if you downloaded and installed another rogue like XP Security. Your description of the computer's behavior certainly indicates that it was still infected. The best thing to do with such an infected machine is to back up your data from outside of Windows (if necessary) and do a clean install/restore to factory condition. Since you can't even get into Windows at this point, fixing the current installation is not going to work. http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html - Clean Install How-To http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Reinstalling_Windows - What you will need on-hand If you can't do the work yourself (and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea), take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad).MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
