I have never heard of updating to Windows 7 through Windows Update. What did you have on your computer before the update? You need to clarify your situation a bit. Do you mean updating to Service Pack 1?Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi, Would you please let me know if you purchased any upgrade version disk? If you upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista, you need to enter the upgrade product key to activate your new Windows 7. If not, the copy of Windows 7 will be considered to no-genuine. The notification cannot be resolved until you enter the valid upgrade product key. In addition, Windows Update just offers the security updates, Windows 7 cannot be upgraded from Windows Update. You should have the installation CD with the product key to do it. Please click Start -> right click computer -> properties and check the activation status. If you don't know where to get the product key, you could contact Customer Service. Microsoft Customer Service (800) 426-9400 is available Monday through Friday, from 6:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. pacific time. Note: Microsoft Customer Service mainly handles issues regarding replacement manuals, disks, drivers and service packs, product IDs, or lost CD-keys, product orders, policies related to copying software on additional computers, licensing, and product registration. Microsoft does not "update" from Vista to Windows 7 through Windows Update. So, it would be helpful if you could provide the exact details of your "update" from Vista to Windows 7. If you did somehow "update" from Vista to Windows 7 via the internet, you most likely obtained a pirated copy of Windows 7.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
