ngentask.exe keep crashing
My computer keeps getting an icon with wings that states my ngentask.exe crashed. It already had to shut down and restart a few times. I have also updated everything multiple times. This keeps happening, and now something similar is starting to happen to my Microsoft Office... but mainly my ngentask.... What is this and how can I fix it? Is my computer in danger of crashing? I recently got a new hard drive... What can I do?

ngentask.exe is part of Microsoft .NET Framework.  R-installing net framework should fix this issue.  You may want to upload your event viewer logs so we can take a look

Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps: Press the Win key + "R" and type eventvwr>enter Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post * If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem.  The work around is to edit the registry.  If you are not comfortable doing this DONT.  If you are, backup the key before you do Press Win+"R" and input regedit
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Channels. Delete "Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic"

Can you navigate me through the method of resetting the registry? I did update to 8.1. If you tell me in detail what to do I will be comfortable enough to do it. Thanks.

Hi,

Have you tried to turn off and turn on the .net framework under control panel\All control panel items\Programs and Features\Turn windows feature on and off? Please remember to restart your system.

Or use the latest Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool, it supports all versions of the .NET Framework from 3.5 SP1 to 4.5.1. (works in Windows 8.1)

And another choice, if you have an restore point created, then you can also return the system to a previous state with system restore, but please note that you will lose some recent configuration.
