new hp g72 laptop that will not see my netgear wireless N connection, but will see the netgear wireless G connection, dual band router

I have tried everything I know several times, I feel like I changed something but do not know what is was. I bought a new HP G72 laptop and a Netgear WNDR3300 dual band wireless N router. My older laptop can see both connections G & N, but my new can only see the G connection. For just a moment I saw the N connection on the new laptop but not now, what could I have done? I'm not that familiar with Windows 7. Can anyone help??
