Pre-Vista Existing functioning network xp home - Husbands games platform xp home - App's machine, shared printer, shared scanner xbox 360 everything connected to internet & can print from husbands machine Post vista above the same Vista home - laptop, can connect to Internet, but not intranet. Cannot access shared printer, see xp machines. Workgroup name is the same on all PC's Acknowledge patch for xp KB922120 The resulting boggle to the patch is error code 0x80070035. widows cannot access \\APPSMACHINE diagnose cannot solve the problem. Following brownstem thread, but no definite solution for me there. Also loaded xp patch KB896427. Had to tell norton firefall on all XP PC's to see the Vista laptop's IP address. Problem solved (Firewall's even protect the users from themselves!) tee hee hee. Hope this helps someone else. KISS

I have 3 computers on home network, Dell interactive help could not solve initial problem re XP pro computer to 2 new Vista ultimate computers, but before giving up and quitting Dell rep screwed something up. Before Dell involved, vista to vista computers had no problem sharing either way, XP could access both, but they could not access XP. After, the one (E1505) he used for remote access can communicate with (XPS410), but when XPS410, which can see the E1505 on the network, cannot access E1505 it and gets error 0x80070035. All settings on E1505 are set for sharing, but cannot be accessed. What could he have screwed up? Would like to know before I plan on more hours with Dell.

I had this same problem on my home network but it was McAfee that was blocking the IP address of the Vista Laptop from connecting the to the XP Laptop. Thank you so much for sharing this!
