Can I ask you how you connected your laptop wirelessly?? I just bought an HP Laptop with Windows Vista, and I already had an desktop with Windows XP, however I have just spent the last 2 days attempting to hook my lapton up to the wireless router with no luck at all..I contacted Linksys, the maker of the router, and they went thru every thing possible that they could think of on their end, only to tell me that they now think it might have something to do with the Vista operating system... HP of course blamed it on the router when I was on the phone with them... I am thinking maybe this router is not compatible with the Windows Vista, but I honestly do not know.. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.. THank you, Christine

Hello Christine,Is your Vista machine part of the same workgroup (the Vista default is WORKGROUP, whereas the XP default is MSHOME)?Did Linksys (I've had several of their wired & wireless routers in succession, and can vouch for the excellence of their technical support any time of the day) and / or HP support first walk you through a *wired* connection with the router to ensure that is working? Is you Vista laptop configured to use the same SSID as your XP desktop and the wireless router? Click on the wireless networking icon on your system tray to verify? Is the firewall software on Vista configured to *trust* the gateway (router) address and the other computers in your network? Please verify and confirm the above first.Sunthar

Kissammee ... Sunthar's questions and suggestions are excellent. See also his posting at http://forums.microsoft.com/technet/ShowPost.aspx?postid=1683125&siteid=17One other thought here ... ensure your Linksys wireless router is set to broadcast the SSID. I also have a fairly new HP laptop with Vista. Before I got the laptop my Linksys WRT54G was set to NOT broadcast the SSID (per advice when originally configured). My WinXP desktop would connect fine with it; however, I could not get my HP laptop to connect. Once I set the router to broadcast the SSID, the laptop connected fine.According to an article at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/network/wifi/hiddennet.mspx#ERDnon-broadcast wireless networks are not recommended. If no success after Sunthar's suggestions and this, please post more details about your issue ...
