networking problem
Hi everyone, my problem is that i have this uncommon networking connection, first of all my internet service provider is a modem that i bought in a cell phone company. this modem is USB connected to a desktop computer and with a LAN connection directly connected to the desktop computer i receive internet into a laptop.Everything was working fine until I (not so genius) tried to print through the printer that is connected to the desktop computer. So I went pushing buttons, changing some settings and it ended with the laptop unable to receive internet connection from the desktop computer. If someone could help me, i tried changing the cable, at the ipv6 and ipv4 every option is in automatic. from the desktop computer i receive that ipv4 is connected to internet and ipv6 is limited. at the laptop connection both are connected to local only. the connections have the shared option on so i dont know what is going on.

Hi,
Thank you for your post.
If everything worked before, a quick solution is to restore the system back to the previous status when the issue didnt occur with System Restore. (Note: Performing a system restore may cause the loss of the current system settings; therefore, before doing this, please make sure that the system restore point is not too old and set a restore point for the current status.)
May I know if both computers are connected with a Crossover cable and sharing the Internetconnection? If so, I would like to share the following document with you:
Using Crossover Cables in Home or Peer-to-Peer Networkshttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/278870

Using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/bfd3bd31-82f0-4b9c-9cde-fb92bc2b14771033.mspx
You may also check if the both computers are on the same network segment and they can ping each other.
Hope this helps.

Think you were using Internet connection sharing on desktop to share Internet to laptop but did some wrong configuration after that, you can have a look on this Internet connection sharing tutorial to redo it.
