I was being helped in that thread but i haven't gotten a reply from the MS tech there in close to 3 weeks. Hoping someone could read that and pick up where he left off.
thanks

I would presume the reason you haven't gotten an answer is because Hamachi is not a Microsoft product and if you're having problems with it you need to go ask the people that publish the software.
https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi2/ has a Community forum. Microsoft cannot tell youy how or why Hamachi works!

Rick - did you read that thread? The problem i am having is not with hamachi, it's with the windows networking. And if what you said were true, why would the MS tech have helped me thus far and then just stopped?
May 16th, 2010 9:00pm
Yes. I did read the thread. And, if Microsoft Techs stop responding I would suspect they had reached the end of their rope. Which would mean to me the problem is not Windows 7, but the Hamachi software causing the problem. Microsoft
cannot fix problems with the software from other manufacturers.
What gives people the idea that just because they are using a Microsoft operating system that any and all problems are the responsiblility of Microsoft? Microsoft writes the operating system. Anyone one writing software for the operating
system is responsible to ensuring it functions properly in Micosoft's operating system - NOT Microsoft!!!

1. if the tech reached 'the end of his rope' i would think he'd at least say 'sorry i cant help you anymore'.
2. he told me to try something, and if that failed, to come back and he was going to tell me to try something else. I've been waiting for him to come back tell me what that something else was.
3. the problem IS with windows. All my network adapter icons disappearing. Not being able to re-install a NIC that was working before - those are all OS problems.
if you don't want to help, then fine. But telling me to go ask hamachi isn't really very constructive to the problem. And you know damn well if i ask them, they are just going to say go ask microsoft. and at this point, it IS a problem in the operating system.
Maybe hamachi caused the problem, maybe not. But nonetheless, the problem resides in the operating system now.

Hi Ian,
I’m sorry for delay to response your question. The symptom is special and I have tested in different surroundings, but I still did not get any answer.
Based on current situation, it’s highly recommended to perform an In-Place Upgrade to repair the system to check the result.
In-Place upgrade (Repair install)
===========
1. Start the computer by using the current Operating System.
2. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in the computer's DVD drive.
3. Use one of the following procedures, as appropriate:
If Windows automatically detects the DVD, the Install now screen appears. Click Install now.
If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps:
a. Click the Start Button, type Drive:\setup.exe in the start search box and then click OK.
Note: Drive is the drive letter of the computer's DVD drive.
b. Click Install now.
4. When you reach the "Which type of installation do you want?" screen, click Upgrade to upgrade the current operating system to Windows 7.
Hope this helps.
Novak

The problem is, and you refuse to recognize it, the Hamachi software is a third party software and not Microsoft's software. You have elected to blame windows for a problem that is not a Windows problem.
Your source of assistance is the LogMeIn website and their people.

Novak - thanks for replying. Will i have an upgrade option since i already am using windows 7? And if you want to continue this in the original thread, we can do that. at least that way if someone else has the problem maybe it'll help them.
thanks

Last time i checked, logmein didn't control the windows networking. When windows refuses to install the drivers for a physical network adapter, that pretty much seems like an operating system error to me.
Again - maybe hamachi caused the problem. Or maybe it didn't - maybe it ran into a bug in windows itself. Regardless of what caused the problem, the problem is now an operating system issue. I'm not looking to BLAME anyone. I just want to fix the problem.
You however seem to be taking it personally for some reason. I just want to fix my networking problem. I don't care who or what is to blame. I do however know that microsoft is my best chance of fixing it.

Hi Ian,
Please just perform the repair option instead of Upgrade option. To troubleshoot the issue, you should repair the current Windows 7 system. Also, I suggest you temporarily
turn off Hamachi software for a test.
Thanks,
Novak

And that is exactly where you are completely WRONG! If a third party software doesn't install properly in Windows, it's their fault, not Windows! Microsoft publishes the information for the software engineers to follow for their software to interface
to the Windows OS!
You need to wake up to reality and smell the coffee!

Hey Novak,
Just wanted to let you know I called into MS support and after spending about 2-3 hours trying various things to resolve it, they also decided that an inplace upgrade was the solution. I haven't tried doing that yet since I'm a little concerned it might
mean needing to reinstall a lot of things.
But I'll probably either wind up doing that, or just doing a clean install of windows itself.
Thanks for your help.
