networking issues windows 7
ok i very new to networking
but i have been experiencing some problems lately
i have a ubuntu machine
an acer laptop with vista 32bit
a desktop with windows 7 64 bit
and a netgear readynas duo
all but the laptop are connected to a linksys router/modem by cable
laptop wireless
all the computers can access the internet
but just lately the windows machines will only see themselves across the network
when i go into networking center and show full map it shows the nas but i cant see it in the network window
at one point i did see it and mapped a network drive to it
i can access the nas through this way but i cant see the drive in the normal network window
and because of this media center wont let me add folders to my media library
i can play anything off the nas in media center just cant tell it to add a folder it doesnt give me the nas as an option
the laptop is the same cant see nas
the linux machine can see evrything
i dont know what to do

Good Luck. Keep trying the answers on the board. Some may work. Have the same problems. Stopped upnp on my router which helped see the other computers on my network but took down my email. I am begining to believe that Windows7
was designed to end networking. By now you should be able to feel my fustration. Even "professionial" PC guru's won't take
paying support calls to fix networking issues with Windows7.

Hi,
When did this issue occur for the first time?
Open network sharing center->Change advanced sharing settings and make sure you have turned on the corresponding settings.
Or you can Run Troubleshoot problems under Network and sharing Center to check the result.
Meanwhile, if you have any firewall software, please disable it as a test. If still no go, you can consider resetting and re-configuration the router.
