networking a new Vista with XP Pro
I'm hoping someone can help me! I just bought a new notebook with Vista Business and I have connected it to my XP Pro home network, but now I can't seem in install my business software on my new notebook. The s/w needs to be added as a workstation and the program is on the network on my XP machine. This was so easy to do on another XP...I could just "browse" for the network location and it was done...but, when I try it on the Vista, it won't even allow me to browse for any location other than it's own "C" drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I would like to confirm if you cannot access the share folder where the installation file of the software is stored from the Windows Vista machine. If so, please check the following points for troubleshooting: Can the machines ping each other? If it can, please access the share folder using the UNC path (\\ip_address_of_XP_machine\share_folder) to check the result. Hope it helps.
