I have tried following the instructions but i cant get 7 and vista to network. vista computer has the printer and most of the files i want to share with the 7 computer. I have a laptop that has 7 it networkd easily with the 7 computer. Any extra help would be appreciated To share printer, files & network between vista & win 7, you need to enable the following feature for both OS. Follow the step here, we'll start with win 7 first, Under win 7, go to ctrl panel>network & sharing center>change advanced sharing settings, next ensure 1) network discovery is turn on, 2) File & printer sharing is turn on, 3) public folder sharing is turn on, 4) password protection sharig is turn off (note: other wise you would be prompt for password if you did not turn it off) 5) Homegroup connection, select alow windows to manage homegroup connections. Next we enable similar setting for vista, On vista pc, right click on network & select properties, next go to network & sharing center, under sharing & discovery, ensure 1)network discovery is turn on, 2)file sharing is turn on, 3)public folder sharing is on, 4)printer sharing is on, 5)password protecting sharing is off, 6)media sharing is on. Once the above setting is done, under win 7>network & sharing center, select view network computers & devices & you should be able to see both network pc. Next on the vista pc, double click on Network and you should see the Win 7 pc as well. Last but not least ensure there's no third party firewall or you would have problem sharing the network. Hope the above helps
