network password problem
I have several xp machines, 1 win2ooo machine and 1 win 7 home pro laptop. I was able to access the win2000 machine until 1 week ago. (ie I would use sync toy to update shared files). There is several user accounts on the win2000 machine including the win7 name and password. Suddenly something has changed and whenever I try to access the win 2000 machine from win7 with any of the accounts, it say " Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password". The win2000 machine can be accessed by any of the XP machines with any of the users names mentioned above. I have have tried all solutions that I can find on the internet. Any suggest would be appreciated

This has nothing to do with lost or forgotten passwords. The win 7 machine can not access the win2000 machine with valid user names and passwords, however all of the XP machines can access the win2000 machine with the very same valid users names and passwords. The win 7 piece of SH** was able to access it 1 week ago but now suddenly can't. Probably do to a Microsoft update that has changed a setting, which apparently can't be changed because win7 home pro won't access Group Policy settings.

Hi, Please change default NTLM level. Start and type in "secpol.msc" and enter Press in Win7. Local Policies--Security Options, and find Network security: LAN Manager authentication level on the right site. Thanks for the response. When I try to run secpol, it comes back with a red X and says "MMC could not create the snap-in." As I explained in the first message, I have Windows & Home Pro and my searches have told me that change security policies in Home Pro is not an option. Any other ideas, or am I going about this all wrong?

Hi, There is no Windows 7 Home pro version. Your OS is Home Premium rather than professional. You may add a new account both Windows 7 and Windows 2000, meanwhile temporary turn off the firewall and antivirus for testing. Here is a related article can be referred to.
