network not identified
Hi all,I have installed Windows 7 RC on my desktop pc. I have a Netgear FA311 network card and the driver wasn't installed during W7 installation.I have installed it manually afterwards and the device is active and shows no problems. I have set up a IP address 192.168.100.10/255.255.255.0but the network center tells me, that the network could not identified.I am connected to my DSL modem and the link signal is present. Is this a problem of my network card?Is there a network card which is recommended for W7?Thank you for your help.Regards,Franzmuc

Hi, First, I would like to confirm whether the Netgear network adapter connected to DSL modem directly. Is there a router or switch between them? Based on my research, we can use the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Upgrade the NIC driver. For your reference, I have enclosed the download link below: Netgear FA311 Please Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information. 2. Bypass the switch or router (if it has). 3. Obtain IP address automatically. a. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) and press Enter. b. Right click on the connection that you use for the local connection, and then click "Properties". c. Click to select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", and then click "Properties". d. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". e. Click "OK". What's the result? If the issue persists, please collect the following information for research. 1. Click the Start Button and type "cmd" (without quotation marks) in the open box. 2. Right click CMD and click "Run as Administrator" option, and then click Yes. 3. In the open command window, input the following command and press Enter Key after it. Ipconfig /all >C:\pingresult.txt 4. Please open Computer and navigate to C:\ folder to find the "pingresult.txt" file and post the result here. Thanks, Novak
