network connection keeps on saying limited connectivty
first off im new so im sorry if i posted this on the wrong sectionwell here is the problem i used to be able connect to my cousins router which was in my basement but just today he put a password on it and after i click on the network icon thingy and type in the password all i get is connected with limited accessand also i checked to see if it was just my desktop but my laptop couldn't even connect either like when you click available networks it just has a big red X beside it so if anyone could help and also it says on my desktop "windows cannot create network map because the network's location type is public. In order to view the network map, you must set the network's location type to private in network and sharing center." so if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated

Hello pop1234, If this is a wireless network, you'll need to use the encryption key that your cousin used to password protect the network. My advise is to ask him what those settings are so you can connect. You can easily change the network location type in Windows Vista by performing the following steps here. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb878110.aspx -- Eric Cross Microsoft MVP (Windows Desktop Experience) http://mvp.support.microsoft.com
