network adaptor dissapears windows 7 64bit ultimate
I am using an ASUS M2A-VM HDMI mothboard V1.06 and every so often when I boot the network adaptor is gone. I can see the physical leds still blinking and if I re-install the driver and reboot it comes back. Is there any way to tell the computer not to update or make any changes to this device so that it "stays".Previously this motherboard was running Vista ultimate with no issues. When I upgraded to Windows 7 ultimate (wiped and reloaded) I had the white screen issue, no nic, and no sound (problems mentioned in other postings on this board) I did a BIOS update (2302) and got the latest drivers and resolved all those issues. This seems to be the last problem. I am fairly certain that it is some compatibility issue in Windows 7 and the AMD 680 chipset in this board. I am using the realtek RTL8111BCRTL8112L_LAN_V735222009_Win7 driver. Any suggestions are appreciated thank you.

what is the network adapter specifically? So you're saying the device doesn't show at all in device manager?MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. The network adapter is integrated with the motherboard and when it is showing in device manager but not working it is listed as Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20) then after troubleshooting wizard, reinstalling driver (listed in my first post) and retarting machine it shows up as Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller but sometimes when it dissapears it does not show up in device manager at all. For some reason the O/S is losing track of the driver? (my guess). How can I tell windows 7 to not make any changes to that hardware device and or driver?

Hi, I would like to confirm if it still works when it disappears? I would like to suggest you uninstall the previous installed network card driver and reinstall it from the following link in Safe Mode. http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. In answer to your query, it does not work when it dissapears however the lights still blink - the lights are on but nobody is home. I followed your instructions and installed the driver you recommended. It appears to be working. Thank you for taking your time to help me. I appreciate it.Steve
