Hi, here is the info from MS: There have been numerous improvements to Winsock to address the top customer pain in this area. The icing on the cake is that network diagnostics will diagnose when it is actually necessary to "reset" the stack. When it detects corrupted or out of order LSPs (which cause the problems that can be fixed via reset) it will offer the correct repair options to fix this and do this automatically for you when they are selected. So you should not have to go to the command line or use netsh to fix this like you did in XP. To run network diagnostics - click one of the "diagnose" buttons you see sprinkled in Windows, IE, etc. However, if you really want to do a reset, you can still netsh -> winsock -> reset thx!

As suggested by MS. We seldom use netsh to reset TCP/IP since the GUI can already fix the problem. If it detect fail TCP/IP stack, Vista will reset automatically.

I am getting exactly the same error when attempting to use netsh. Yet when I ran the netsh catalog command I did get a catalog showing the name of the spyware object that crashed my Winsock - aelupsvc32.dll Any helpful suggestions on how to get past the "cannot find the file specified" error when running the netsh commandwelcome!

Hello guys and gals, I am not in any means a computer wiz or anything usually I can fix a problem myself or find an answer to it online. I encountered this same problem on a laptop of mine a HP pavillion dv1000 with XP. I got the same error cannot find the file specified. So I down loaded something called WinsockxpFix- Now there is a Vista and all kinds of other Winsock fixs, what happened was I had to DL it from my desktop to a flash drive and put it on my laptop...after I DLed it, I ran it, Now it gives an option to back up your Reg but I didn't seeing as to how it was already messed up, why back it up? Anyway...it took it 2 attempts..I thought it froze so I exited, and re-done it..and all the sudden my comp shut down..I really wasn't paying attention to the laptop cause I was reading stuff, but I turned my comp back on, done it again, and the right hand bottom corner popped up and said wireless network found connected speed excellent, and now everything is grand! I hope this helps, sorry I ranted on too much. Later.
