need some help with running masterform with admin as standard user
Here is the scenario. We want to have at work a backup computer that runs Masterform by label master ups worldship and fedex shipmanager. On windows 7, our main computer that works perfectly with all programs, we log into the account that is on the domain, the user is not a admin user so when programs need to be installed or whatever it prompts for admin credentials. We right click the shortcut to master form to go advanced and check the box to run as administrator. IF this program is not ran as administrator, the information doesn't get sent over from masterform to ups worldship to process shipments. As long as the checkbox under advanced to run as administrator is checked, it works perfect. Here is where I'm stuck. The backup machine has windows vista business. Same programs installed. On the compatability tab, run as admin is greyed out. But I can check the box under shortcut -> advanced and check run as administrator. The problem? It always asks for admin user and password to allow the program to run. We don't want this, but we also don't want the workers to know or type the admin user and password. So How can I get this masterform to run elevated without asking for credentials like it doesn't in windows 7. Also to let you know I tried to turn off UAC and Masterform refused to run at all and you would have to hit close. Turn UAC back on, enter that admin user and pass and program runs. Uncheck run as administrator in shortcut -> advanced and it'll run but has errors and the program has to run elevated for the entire program to function properly. I hope this makes sense. I just want the program to run in vista like it does in windows 7. Without the requirement of asking for the administrator user and password.

Hi Aaron5305, you said.. I think the solution is to do with taking Ownership of at least the path for the backup - or even the drive the backups are on. I don't know if this locks you out from Win7 thereafter tho as I'm only starting the Win7 journey myself.. Hope that helps, pkn2011
