nVidia drivers not doing what I expect.
I just installed Win7 build 7100. on initail instalation Windows installed a driver that takes advantage of the high res capability of my chip. I have a two monitors. Under Vista a second monitor with e correct driver can be configured for placement left or right of the primary monitor. I loaded drivers from nVidia with the hope the vista 64 bit drivers might work. It appears the placement cannot be changed. In other words I have a second monitor to the left of my primary monitor and I can only extend my desktop to the right, I will be looking into this. Can it be the driver from MS is interfering with the changed the nVidia control panel is trying to make using the nVidia control panel. But most likely the drivers needsome changes made.Has Anyone else seen this happen."Not everything that counts can be counted." Go into where you would change the settings in Control Panel to extend the desktop onto 2 monitors. There should be a picture of 2 monitors, labeled with #s 1 & 2. Drag the 2 to the left of the 1 and there you go.Hello! Please try every solution given to your problem...and reply back with its results... - JoelbX

Thank you JoelbX, Ok, that was a good idea the thing is i can make the indication gui change to show the monitor where i want it I cannot drag and drop it as you suggested. The thing is the changes won't stay in place when I clickApply Ok.The countdown starts and then the windows says it will revert in 15 seconds when i click Ok it just reverts anyhow. I am frustrated but it appears to me the system changes from Windows won't allow the change.Thakns again looking in to reinstalling older driver now."Not everything that counts can be counted." E.E.

Wow I am pretty dense sometimes. I did make the changes and they are accepted. I made the changes from the desktop by right clicking. All this time I was in the control panel using the nVidia panel. I am happy that it work correctly. An I do appreciate your time to let me know how this feature works. Problem solved!"Not everything that counts can be counted." E.E.

You're welcome. Glad I can help. BTW, I encountered how to do this by accident setting monitor #2 (monitor on the right) as the primary and the taskbar showed up on that one, not the left monitor that I wanted it on...but to drag windows to the other monitor, you still had to drag them to the right, not to the left toward the second monitor. Drove me nuts....until I found the the monitors were listed in the Control Panel's Display panel as 2 and then 1, so I dragged the 2 over to the right of the 1, and it fixed it..Hello!
