my router problem, is finally fixed!!
hey whats up guys, my name is Arthur. I've been lurking here lately because yesterday, (10/16/06) I installed Vista RC 2 Build 5744. When I installed it, I couldn't connect to the internet with my router. I have a Netgear WGR614 v6 router. What was weird was that, when I installed Pre-RC 1 32 bit, I was able to connect to the internet. All I did was connect my Ethernet cable to my PC and the internet fired up. Today, when I connected my Ethernet cable, my internet was dead. I couldn't connect. So I disconnected my router, and just ran internet through my dsl modem. Since then, I searched here, and another website, http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspxFinally, the fix to my problem was this: when you're running your internet though a router, run it on a STATIC ip address! I feel stupid for wasting so much time searching on an answer so basic, but I'm happy that I found an answer! Hope that this will help some of you guys out there. -Arthur
