i have tried to install one of the updates on my laptop. When it asks me to restart the computer, I shut everything down,disconnect my internet connection and click to restart. The computer then says configuring windows update and displays a % type countdown. It then logs off, goes to the shutting downscreen and then... ...nothing. I have been disconnecting the battery to get it to restart. It then displays another screen saying its configuring windows etc,however when I get to my desktop it tells me that I have an update that hasn't completed updating? Anyway if any of that makes any sense to anyone, I would love to know how to solve it.

Find out the exact name of the update go to windows download center and download it, then install it like you normally would install any file then when it prompts to reboot, tell it no.... then go to shutdown button and click the arrow and select restart, this might help you hopefully.
