my VPN works on XP np, but can't get it to work on Vista
Hi,I'm been spending quite a lot of time on this, testing and searching without much luck I'm afraid. Here are my VPN settings:I use PAP (no encryption),L2TP IPSec with a Pre-shared key.Always worked on XP. Have not been able to make it work on Vista (tried on multiple computers)I have downloaded the Microsoft IPSec diagnostic tools and it always fails on the localhost ping, but when I try that on the command line it works. Therefore I think this is something on the local machine but have not figured it out yet.P.

Hi, Thank you for posting. Firstly, may I know if there are some errors received? If so, please let us know in detail. Based on my research, I would like suggest the following: 1. Please check the network connection. 1) Ensure that the Windows Vista computer can communicate with the VPN Server. 2) If possible, please check if the PPTP connection to the server can be established on the Windows Vista computer. 2. Please check the local settings. You can also set up the connection again to see if it works. Setting up your VPN under Windows Vista https://www.publicvpn.com/support/Vista.php#l2tp_ipsec Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. 3. I also noticed that you are using Microsoft IPSec Diagnostic Tool to identify the issue, please also let us know the results. Meanwhile, I will also share the following information with you: Routing and Remote Access Blog - Troubleshooting Vista VPN problems http://blogs.technet.com/rrasblog/archive/2007/04/08/troubleshooting-vista-vpn-problems.aspx Hope this helps.
