mstsc /admin doesn't connect to the real console with Windows 7
When I was using XP SP3, I would use "mstsc /admin" to connect to our servers console session and administrate the open windows, programs, etc... I recently was moved to Windows 7, and now when I connect using "mstsc /admin" it doesn't seem to connect to the "console" session. I see an empty desktop. And if I go to another machine with XP SP3 on it, and connect to the same machine, I see the console, with the open apps, windows, etc... What's going on? Any help appreciated.

Hi, What server is it connected to? Please check if the following method works. 1. Click Start -> type mstsc in the search box and press Enter 2. On Remote Desktop Connection, click on Options 3. In the computer field fill in your server or computer name (eg: server1) 4. In the username field you fill in the server1\username 5. Check the box "Allow me to save the credentials" 6. Now make a connection (it is possible that you need to give your credentinals agian) 7. Make a success full connection. 8. Now try to connect with mstsc /v:server1 /admin (if you want to you can make a shortcut with this command) Best Regards, NikiPlease remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I don't know if this will help or not, but try using the /console switch. Supposedly it was depreciated (it no longer appears on the help screen) and was replaced with the /admin switch but it doesn't throw an error when used so it may still be valid.
