mscorsvw.exe - the invader
I had the same problem, but with a diffrent process, only another reinstall helped unfortunately :(

Hi. I installed the SP1 a few days ago and I am a victim of the mscorsvw.exe, some sort of "optimizer" of .net framework. When I reinstalled Windows 7 a few months ago (I installed 64 bits but I need to return to 32 bits because of the lot of uncompatibilities), I suffer the mscorsvw.exe for two or three days, but now, I have a lot of days waiting for this app to end hijacking my PC. Every time I start the PC, I have to wait several minutes with my processor full used by this app.

this is by design. The mscorsvw.exe is the .net optimization service which compiles the .net files into machine code to make .net applications faster. The service is running because the Sp1 updates so many .net files. Wait a few minutes an the CPU usage is gone. It should run once. You can stop the services. Now run the command prompt with admin rights and go to the folders C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 and C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727 and run ngen update . This forces the run. Now let this run several minutes. André"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" Want to install RSAT on Windows 7 Sp1? Hi, it's me again. I can't understand why this process must be done on every explorer.exe start. When I installed W7 it was done 2 or 3 times and never after, but since I installed SP1, the process run every time (and for several minutes). Thanks.

It only occurs once after you installed Windows 7 Sp1. What is "ngen update" doing? Does it finish the compilation of all .net files?"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" Want to install RSAT on Windows 7 Sp1? I don't know. I never interrupted it so I think it fished the job. But every time explorer.exe start or restart, the ngen and mscorsvw start too, and go for several minutes.

I never used this SkyDrive. I uploaded the .rar but I'm not sure about it: Is this the link?: http://cid-7d978f255e885bc4.office.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/ngen.rar Anyway, as I said, the last date is 01/14/2011, I'm sure I'm installed the SP1 after this date.

the log says all ngen commands were successful, so i don't understand why it still runs each time. My last idea is that you should check the following registry keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\NGenQueue HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\NGenQueueMSI it has 2 nodes (32Bit and 64Bit). What is shown under default? Are there still entries? If yes, export the entries as backup and delete them. I have no idea left. Set the start type to on demand to avoid the startup at each boot. André"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" Want to install RSAT on Windows 7 Sp1? Check my HowTo: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=150221

Oh, no! I had abad idea: install SQL server 2008. 8 days ago. Mscorsvw still takes control of my PC for several minutes on every start, I repeat: 8 days... I really hate this program.
