msconfig as well as services not working on Win7 home edition
hi if i run msconfig i am getting an error message either the service is disabled or there is no ENABLED deivce associated. I get similar error if i run services. I have read some post at windows site that SFC SCANNOW checks if the OS is corrupted. when i have entered the command i got an error message that i should logon as administrator , though i have logged on as administrator.I am not even able to install any software as its not recognizing the administrator login. Please suggest what need to be done to rectify the issue.I have scanned my laptop with Microsoft security essentials and it hasn't detected any virus Priyanka

To run the System File Checker command from an administrator Command Prompt: 1 - Type CMD into the Start menu, then press Ctrl-Shift-Enter. Provide confirmation on the User Account Control dialog. 2 - Confirm you are running an Administrator Command Prompt by looking for the word "Administrator" in the title bar. 3 - Type sfc /scannow to initiate the scan. Hi Thanks. But, on pressing Ctrl-Shift-Enter, nothing is coming up. Is it possible to fix issues in safe mode. In safe mode its allowing installation. Priyanka

An alternative to Shawns method would be 1) Click the start orb 2) Type cmd in the search box 3) When cmd.exe appears at the top, right click on it and select run as administrator and enter the administrator password (if required) 4) When the command prompt window appears, enter the command sfc /scannow
