missing upnp framwork from windows firewall exceptions
so i just got a new system and and setting it up for media center and i am unable to connect to any of my xbox. the 360's go throught the media center connection test and pass everything except the final stage (PC connection) so ive been looking around for a soulution according to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/extender/setup/firewall/winfirewall.mspx i have all the exceptions to the windows firewall i need except "UPnP Framework." its not listed anywhere in the list and i assume this is whats preventing me from connection to my 360's... using Vista SP1 Media Center 2005 and windows firewall, no 3rd parts security software except Spybot search and destroy. so far i have been unable for find any solution to this problem. any help would be appreciated, TIA - VirusMD

Hi VirusMD, in Windows Vista, we only need to enable the service "UPnP Device Host" in Start Start Search services.msc . Meanwhile, you can temporarily disable Windows Firewall and check if the issue is caused by firewall. You can also check the following page: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/pcsetup/Vista.htm You can check our Xbox support forum for such issue: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/forums/default.htm

Hi, thanks for the update. I have checked that thread and I consider it will be OK if we have a parallel install of the OS on another partition. Before doing so, I remember that we have phone and email support service on Xbox360 related issues. I recommend you contact them and see if the issue can be resolved. (I had once submitted a Xbox360 support incident via the link.) http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/contact Hope this helps!
