missing FLV thumbs
I recently upgraded from Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). I had some playback issues with certain AVI files & so downloaded the Win7CodecsInstaller (Shark 007). I was hoping that this codec pack would also restore my FLV thumbs, but no... And so, I just installed the K-lite codec pack (v. 5.4.4, Full) to see if this would solve the problem. During the installation process, I carefully looked for the setting option to "make thumbnails possible for the following file types" (with FLVs included in the list), but it never presented itself. (Perhaps this is now just part of the default settings?) I still have no FLV thumbs: all it did was to change the icon from one generic image to another. I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this issue. Many thanks.

You can try one of the following methods to fix our issue.Method 1: Install codec========= Download and install K-Lite codec pack (if you have already done it, then you can re-install the latest version). While installing the pack there will be an option "MAke thumbnail generation possible for the following file types", please check the box before the .flv, thenthe thumbnails will be shown in the explorer. it is very simple. Mehod 2: Import the registry==========1. Copy the following commands and then paste them into the opened Notepad window. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.flv\ShellEx\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]@={c5a40261-cd64-4ccf-84cb-c394da41d590} 2. After you paste the above commands, please click "File" and click "Save"., Type in "flv.reg" as the file name. 3. Double click the flv.reg file to import the registry. Now, you would be able to get the thumbnail.Good luck!John

Thanks, John, for your suggestions. After also installing the K-Lite 64-bit codec pack, I was finally given the option to make thumbnails for my FLV files. Displaying nicely now!
