Interesting, not seen this before

this thread for OCS suggest you use "windows installer clean up utility"

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/communicatorsdk/thread/5ebf8a6d-f9c7-4044-9de7-ccbe4f286f20

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility

I'd then be sure your using a full RTM client and not a trial/RC client.

Hope that helps

Tom

Hi, Khaled,

So what’s the lync version you use?

If you decide to uninstall, please refer to Uninstalling Lync Server 2010 and Removing Server Roles.

And there’s a blog for reference. Hope useful.

Hi, Khaled,

Lync Server 2010 follows the Server/Client Access License (CAL) model. Under this model, a Lync Server 2010 license is required for each operating system environment running Lync Server 2010. A CAL is required for each user or device accessing the Lync Server. You can acquire Lync Server 2010 CAL as standalone servers and Client Access licenses (CAL) or you can purchase the CALs as part of the Microsoft Enterprise CAL (ECAL) Suite. Lync 2010 is the client software used to interact with the Lync Server 2010 Server and is licensed separately as a standalone license, or available via Office Professional Plus 2010.

More info, please refer to Licensing. And hope useful.

Same problem here.  Some clients are fine, others error when launching.  I verified version, and it is Evaluation.  I ran enable-csserver with success.  What other information can we provide to help form a resolution?

Same error here too. I installed the full version of Lync 2010 to my pc, it was a company where they had lync server running internally.

I uninstalled it and tried to install the eval version, then I got the error.

I totally cleaned out my registry, didn't help.

I haven't tried the full version from my licensed office 2010 pro though, but it should work with the eval version also, not?

Hi All,

I was not able to uninstall the trial lync client, and re-install a new client? Any help will be appreciated?

All i see is the below message....

microsoft lync 2010 cannot start. the product license may be expired because you are using a pre-release or evaluation copy of the program, or the product key information may have been modified in your windows registry . please uninstall and then reinstall lync.

Hello there,

the same issue here too.

in my case we already purchased the license for the server and CAL for clients. however there is not a url link ot even a downloadable package in the license page to downlaod the client.

I don't know how I can get the legitimate client package to install on clients. whereas after upgrading the server to a licensed one i can't install the trial version anymore!!!

any ideas will be highly appreciated.

best regards,,,

We recently had this problem crop up and it was due to us inadvertently installing the trial client instead of the volume license client.  Uninstalling the trial client and installing the volume license client fixed the problem.
