mediacreationtool.exe stalls at 0%

Hi All,

I need a W8.1 Pro ISO  (be nice if I could get SP1 on it too)

These guys mediacreationtool.exe from

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media
(The purple click box)

just stalls at 0%.  Tried it from both Windows 8.0 and Windows 7.

?????????????

Many thanks,
-T

p.s. I don't care where I get the ISO from as long as it is clean

Hi All,

Guess who is working today?  The thing downloaded fine in W7.  W8 still stalled, but it is remarkable if anything works in w8 anyway, so that is to be expected.

The only thing I did different was not renaming the ISO file.   AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

We will appreciate if you could tell us if this also works with Windows 8.

It still stalls in W8.0, even with the original name.  But then again, it is unusual for anything to work properly in Windows 8.

Also, and not appreciated, it refuses to run in either XP-SP3 or Wine 1.7.  Gives you that artificial needs w7 or greater note.

Hi Todd and Margo,

Thanks for your feedback and glad to hear that it worked on Windows 7.

And yes, Windows 8.1 media creation tool has system requirement which is only supported on Windows system (Windows 7 and further version). Depends on network and software environment it might take more or less time to work properly.

Thanks for your solution and we will mark it so other user who has similar issue can see that.

Hi D. Wu,

Don't fool yourself.  That is an artificial block placed there by M$ to force you to upgrade.  It is not appreciated.
