mapping drive on VPN logon is not working
Hi There, If this is not the right place to pot this question, please let me know. I'm having problem mapping a network share on logon when using a VPN program created by CMAK. Here's the details: - client OS: Windows 7 (64-bit) - VPN program created by CMAK in Windows Server 2008 (64-bit) - logon script works fine for XP and Vista the logon script (runs after connecting) has something like this: net use G: \\server_name\share_name and the logoff script (runs on disconnecting): net use G: /delete The following details are done from when the laptop/pc first starts up: - when the client runs the VPN program, it connects and authenticate successfully and the logon script was ran successfully - but when he looked at "my computer", there's no G: anywhere - when he disconnects the VPN, logoff script executes with an error "The network connection could not be found" since G: is never mapped - BUT when he connects the VPN AGAIN, the logon script executes with an error "The local device name is already in use", somehow the G: is (still) mapped "somewhere" the only way for the client to connect to the network share is by running the logon script manually once he is connected to the VPN. So the question is ... why the logon script is not mapping the drive correctly? Why it's not working for Windows 7 but it's fine for Vista? I thought they have similar architecture.

found it! To run CMAK-created VPN on windows 7, we need to create the vpn program from a CMAK that is installed on Windows 7 ! So there IS a difference between vista and 7 after all. Please note that by the time of this posting, the above only applies to Windows 7 32-bit. Please see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771679.aspx
