I have probably got an infection as my laptop can no longer access the internet. Any thoughts on what to do?

After any infection and one that is serious enough to stop you from accessing the internet I would reinstall windows. Are you seeing a lot of popups? I have seen where just going into Tools- Internet Options - Connections - LAN settings - make sure only automatically detect settings is ticked. If there is more information in there then you are attepmting to use a Proxy which I doubt you have. Good Luck!

Hi, Please use the anti-virus program to scan the system in Safe Mode and then check the result. If the problem continues, please refer to the following article to reset TCP/IP: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357 Hope this helps Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support
