lync messages stop displaying when the history reaches a certain size
for the most part lync works fine but as the conversations grow and the user I'm talking to doesn't close their window, at a certain point the messages stop showing in the conv window. I get the popup and I see the brief beginning of there message in the tooltip but the message is not displayed in the conv window. I have to close the window, go to the history and double click the entry to see it, which by the way then has to load all the history for that conversation. I constantly have to ask the other users constantly to close their conv window to clear the history.

This is unfortunately by design and not configurable.  The best you can do at this point is write up your feedback to change it at www.skypefeedback.com

by design? I'm not so sure. The length of the history we are talking about is not a lot. And everyone I speak in my company doesn't have the same problem. Keep in mind it is not me that is controlling the amount of the history in the conv, I always close the window as to clear the history. but everyone else leaves the conv windows open for days which is what is giving me grief, because as soon as they send me a message it wants to display all the history.

Ahh, then I misunderstood. My apologies.   I'm a little confused as to what's happening.  When you say "as the conversations grow and the user I'm talking to doesn't close their window, at a certain point the messages stop showing in the conv window. "  Do you mean, new messages aren't showing up, or you can't see the old mes

The new new messages aren't showing up, they only show up partially in the tool tip and not in the actual conv window. The only way I could see the msg is to close the conv window go to history double click the last entry and wait for it to load.

You're right, that's definitely not the design.  I was thinking you were referring to the oldest messages in the window being truncated.

Are you running the client with the latest patches?  Does it work logged in as you from another PC?  Oddly, it might be a conflicting driver issue as well. See if you can start in safe mode with networking and run Lync to see if the issue disappears.

Hi,

If the IM conversation hosted for a long time without any operation (such as several hours), then all users in the IM conversation will remove all users from this conversation, so you can't view the conversation on the window.

For your case, make sure Lync Server and client update to the latest version.

Best Regards,
Eason
