low network performance: copy files from win2003 to win7 GBIT ethernet
Hello, perhaps someone has a solution. copying files from a windows server 2003 (homeserver) via GBIT ethernet to a win 7 client is very low. it takes minutes to copy 20 MB (splitted to ~5000 files). not so with my xp or vista clients. can anyone help ? thank you

Hi, First, I would like to confirm the following questions: 1. Can you tell me how do the computers connected to Internet, via a switch or router? 2. Which file do you copy, video, document or other file? 3. Is the speed of copying file always the same when trying to copy data from one partition to another one, like 700Kbs? Let's perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Copy file in Safe Mode for a test. If the issue persists, please move on the next steps. 2. Try to copy different type of data for a test, such as document. 3. Run check disk tool and then transfer the data again. Thanks, Novak

Hello, sorry for late answer. the low copy performance also applies to intranet. typical copy actions are copying directory with all files contained. in this directory are various files types contained. my windows 7 runs as win 7 64 bit guest in a vmware workstation 6.5.2. , vista 64 bit host. my other guests (winxp, vista) works well in this concern. all my vms have the same target for copy in the network and only win7 lags. so most probably a windows 7 issues this more because other people complained about low explorer performance as well.

Hi,Does the issue occur when copying files in Safe Mode with Networking mode? Does it also occur when copying other media files? At this stage, it's highly recommended to copy some video files in Safe Mode with Networking instead for a test. If the issue persists, I will report the issue to our feedback team.Thank you for your time and effort on this case.Novak
