lost user account desktop windows 8

i had a user account desktop full of my folders and work that is critical. i recently added a user account while trying to get my skype running with a microsoft account. i created a hotmail account for this and a new user. i now have lost the original user account and its settings and don't see that user account in my user account list.

how do i find my original user account and return it? i find windows 8 a nightmare overall.

i actually just found a folder under the users directory that holds all of this desktop configuration. any way to get this to display??

many thanks

1. What do you mean by "original user account"?

2. First account that you created when you installed computer had administrative rights.

3. It is a good idea to make account Administrator active (In W 7 it was something like net use administrator /active:yes that I run from command prompt.) With local administrator you can recover password of another user account or administrator account.

4. If you used Microsoft user account for initial user account and not local user account, you have certainly established security measure and you can use these for password recovery. Start here

PS:

A. If you consider "windows 8 a nightmare overall", you can revert to Windows 7 that has been accepted better by general public.

Hi,

Did  you associate a Microsoft account before?

You can try system restore to go back to a previous state to check the result.
