lost key with Bitelocker
so i was checking out the new features of Windows 7 and got across the peep Bitelocker. i added a password to an external hardriver and then decided to remove the password. it asked me to save a recovery key so i did. and could gain access to my driver just normal. later i decided to reinstall windows 7 because some issues and found out that i can't access my driver anymore. It does not ask me for my password but for the key that i deleted since i thought i don't need it any more. now how could i get access back,, or should i say bye bye to all my years of pictures and files???

Hi,Where did you store the recovery key? Please use a file recovery tool like PC Inspector File Recovery.Note that this forum does not provide support for the above 3rd party tool.Hope this helps.Jabez Gan [MVP] - http://www.msblog.org Contributing Author for: (Sybex) MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure Configuration Study Guide: Exam 70-643

Hi, Have you test the external drive on another computer? Such as another Windows XP computer, you should find a file named BitLockerToGo.exe. Please try to run it. In addition, was the computer in a domain? If so, hope the following KB can help you. How to use the BitLocker Recovery Password Viewer for Active Directory Users and Computers tool to view recovery passwords for Windows Vista Thanks.
