lost bitlocker password and recovery key
someone linked our camcorder to a workcomputer to transfer some clips to it. the computer prompted to encrypt or not and for some reason encrypt was clicked without realising what would happen. we do not know if a password was asked. in any case we dont know it. we also dont know the recovery key. I have now two problems: 1. when i put the sd card of the camcorder in my computer, it does not prompt for the bitlocker password (could it be corrupted?). On a non windows i can see the bitlocker files are on there and not the actual clips (that's how i concluded someone choose the encryption option). 2. i do not have the password or recovery to get to the files. sounds like a hopeless situation, but maybe someone knows if there is a way to access the files again. Thanks!! PS. can i copy the bitlockerfiles from the SD to a memory stick and try to access them from the memory stick rather than the sd card?

Have you inserted an SD Card on A WIn7 machine. Does it prompt you for password to unlock the SDCard? On a work computer, most domain admins enable the GPO to turn on bitlocker on removable devices. So once you insert a SD card on those machines it will prompt to encrypt the device, if you want Read + Write access. We also prompt not to encrypt if you want to just read from the device. So if this SD card is encrypted with BitLocker then you require pwd to unlock it. Other wise if you want to reuse this card you need to format it and then reuse it, but you will loose all the files on the SD card.Manoj Sehgal
