My network connections were working well until I started using vmware to do some local testing. I have since restored to before the vmware but if I remain idle for an hour or so, I lose my network connection. I go to my network connections and disable the connection and then enable the connection and all is well again until I am idle for the hour or so. I have removed the connections driver and reinstalled. I have searched the registry and found an anomolie in that my gateway was set to 192.168.1.3 instead of 192.168.1.1. I reset my ip configuration to dynamic and then back to static so I could freshly populaate the gateway with 192.168.1.1 but I still keep finding 4 to 6 instances of the 192.168.1.3 gateway in my registry. I find and replace them all and get out of the registry and back in and they are 192.168.1.3 again. How can I find out where the registry is getting its incorrect information? How can I get my connection to stay conected?Thanks, Roger

Hi Roger, This behavior occurs if your network adapter driver is corrupt. I suggest that you reinstall the driver. 1. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "devmgmt.msc" and press Enter. 2. Expand "Network Adapters", double-click on the entry of the wireless network device. 3. Click the tab "Driver", click "Uninstall". 4. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter. 5. Remove the entries related to the wireless network adapter. 6. Reinstall the driver with your driver CD. Then please check if the issue persists. If so, please let us know the model of your computer and the network adapter. Hope it helps.

That seems to be the solution. I have two ports on my motherboard and I disabled the one I was having trouble with and enabled the remaining port I also downloaded the latest driver for the nvidia lan port that appears to be corrupt. Thanks, Roger
