Hello Errut, Thanks for your post! The issue you descried is a little complex, we may need some steps to narrow down the problems scope. Based on my experience, however, such issues are very possibly caused by hardware device confliction or legacy drivers. Please check the Device Manager, confirm whether there is any error with network adapter. If there is one, please refer to the other post in our forum:Thread: 4GB Ram stops PCMCIA network card workinghttp://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2472731&SiteID=17If you are using the same model of wireless network adapter (Marvell Libertas PCMCIA wireless adapter), please contact Marvell to report this issue. This product may contain an error with 4GB RAM. Please also check the RAM you newly installed, its not recommended to mix different types or models of memory chips, which may cause unsuspected mistakes. If the problem still persists or I misunderstood your concern, please let me know more details about this issue. Im happy to be of further assistance. Thanks! Merry Christmas! Thank you for your reply, however there is no indication of an error - at least in the device manager. i`ve also check the infineon ddr400 ram which i added to the system, they are working fine and are of the same specification. by the way i`m using the " marvell yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 Pci gigabit ethernet controller - wired on a dlink router.

Hello Errut, Thanks for your feedback! Based on my research, ASUS A8N-SLI has no driver designed for Windows Vista. Please refer to: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?model=A8N-SLI&SLanguage=en-us(Drivers Tab) and https://winqual.microsoft.com/HCL/ProductDetails.aspx?m=v&g=s&cid=&sv=a8n-sli&f=&pn=ASUS%20A8N-SLI&oid=327 Therefore, the reliability cant be guaranteed when using Windows Vista with this motherboard. Please contact ASUS and push them to release the updated driver designed for Windows Vista, if possible. Just for your reference, please update the driver of Marvell Yukon devices to the latest version and see if the problem can be eliminated. http://www.marvell.com/drivers/driverDisplay.do?dId=154&pId=40 However, if the problem persists, I still recommend you to contact ASUS for further support. Hello Errut, Thanks for your feedback and understanding! Sometimes, Windows will automatically use legacy driver if lacking proper version. Therefore, I suspect the driver currently used by the motherboard is not designed for Windows Vista. If Windows Vista had provided in-box driver for A8N-SLI, the compatibility information wouldnt be unknown in Hardware Compatibility List. The driver of Marvell Yukon devices for Windows Vista was listed in my prior reply. I found and listed it for your reference. Hope it helps! I hope this issue can be fixed soon! If I can offer any help from Windows side, please let me know. Im glad and honored to assist you! Regards, Lionel Chen Microsoft Online Community Support

the referenced marvell driver doesn`t change the situation.By the way: i have a dual boot system with xp on a different partition. the 4gb run perfectly and have no "limited connectivity".

I have the exact same problem but with Linux operating system. Using the second NIC that's on the motherboard works fine. I suspect it's an issue with the motherboard and not with the operating system that you're running. Downgrading to 3GB also works.

Hello Errut and MaximCT, Thanks for your feedback again! We can regard driver as a separate bridge that connects the operating system and hardware. Properly designed driver is critical for operating system. According to my research, the motherboard you are currently using lacks the driver designed for Windows Vista, which may lead to many risks and errors in future use. To efficiently resolve this problem, I highly recommend you to contact ASUS and report this issue. Thank you, MaximCT. Your sharing is helpful. Please also note if you're using the latest driver for your Linux version. Your understandingsare greatly appreciated! Merry Christmas! Regards, Lionel Chen Microsoft Online Community Support

hi,i have found some solution of my problem. i made a driver search with a driver search machine, which recommended to me to take nforce6 driver from nvidia. i tried and -who can believe it- it is working, but limited to nvidia network controller. the marvell remained with the latest driver still unconnected.

Errut, have you found the answer to your issue yet? I also get limited connectivity with 4gb memory installed with x64 vista. If I remove a 2gb memory module I can connect to the network. Also using marvell yukon onboard lan.

Hi, I am having similar issues with the onboard NIC Marvell Yukon 88e8056. I have Vista running with 4GB and cannot get the NIC to work. The system reports that the device is working properly, but reports that the cable is unplugged. I have tried everything: latest driver, deinstalled all driver till the "generic Yukon" driver was installed....etc. In this case the PC is a Acer Aspire M3100. Have not found any real clue, but suspect it relates to the 4GB memory. Regards,Tomation
