laptop with VISTA can not find my wireless router
my os is vista and now that i put a password on my wireless router I can't find the router to connect(i found the router just fine before i secured it)My laptop with xp found and connected to router with no problem

Check the config of the router. I remember that there is an option you can use on routers so that you hide it. Make sure that this option is not used on the router. Best regards.

For the xp one: Make sure that the router connexion is not registered in its config. If it is, this is why it is connecting. For the router: Make sure it is not blocking your MAC addess For the vista machine: Try to disable your antivirus and internal firewall and check if you are able to detect it or no. Make sure that you have the latest driver version for you wireless network card. Best regards.

Another way to proceed on the client computer on which you have the problem is to delete all the registered networks and to try to connect again. Best regards.

Hi, Have you done other secure method other than setting a password? Did you set up any encryption on your wireless networks like WPA2? If so, you might need to make sure that the wireless adapter in your laptop is also up to the task of supporting WPA2 like such. Meanwhile, please refer to Troubleshoot network connection problems.
