laptop nic disables upon disconnect
Dell Latitude D820 i used it in lots of plug in/out of NIC/Switch-ports, and when i'm on battery, every time i unplugthe cablefrom whatever it's plugged into, the NIC disapears from Control Panel -> Network Connections (ie: not disables, but disapears) i've check the obvious power settings and don't find it. how do i make it so that regardless of battery/ac power state, when i unplug the network cable the NIC doesn't disapear? thanks, hak

Dell usually has a seperate Power Saver application that it pre-packs with its computers. Try to find it and tell it not to do that :-D sry I couldn't be mroe technical.

Hak, Run the Dell QuickSet utility (available from the Programs list under the Start button, or by double-clicking the QS icon in your taskbar). In the QuickSet application there is a tab for power management which by default is set to disable the onboard NIC when running on battery power. Change this setting so that it no longer disables the NIC. HTH, Tim
