laptop connects to wireless router...won't connect to web ?
Running home network with Win 7 Pro and XP Home Edition. Have one problem laptop that connects to/recognizes the wireless router...but can't connect to the internet ? Prior to changing the WEP key for the system and installing W7 Pro on desktops...this laptop would connect to the net through the wireless router? Have another laptop and a couple printers working fine connecting to net on this wireless router (keys changed also on these)...but the Toshiba laptop will connect to router but will not go on-line ? The only other thing that changed is the 2 desktops now have Win 7 Pro...the other laptop that's connecting via wireless router is XP Home SP3 and the problem Laptop is also XP Home SP3, Have checked and double checked the key...it is correct and must be if the router recognizes the laptop in the router configuration/attached devices. Can anyone suggest what might be going on here...and how I can get the laptop re-connected to the Internet ? On problem laptop...Network Connections shows a status of "Connected" as does the little network icon in system tray. Since the change to W7 on the 2 desktops...I have not configured the home network per se...but shouldn't the laptops/printers be able to connect via the router with or without a new home network setup ? Nothing was changed on the working laptop other than the wep key... and it connects to the internet just fine. The problem laptop doesn't ? Thanks1 person needs an answerI do too

What IP settings are you using on the router, the Toshiba laptop and any of the machines that DO work? Is the Toshiba configured to get an IP address and to get DNS server addresses automatically?-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook
