laptop connection to homegroup fails
I am trying to connect my laptop to a homegroup that i set up on my desktop.Both run windows 7. the homegroup was created on the desktop and i have the password. When I try to connect the laptop thru control panel /homegroup, it does not give give me the option to join , as it doies not see the homegroup on the laptop. The only firewall on both computers is windows firewall. How can I get my laptop to recognize the homegroup?

It may be a silly question but have you checked the name of each computer? Network names are not case sensitive. If the only difference is in uppercase/lowercase the system sees them as the same and will not give the option to join a HomeGroup.
