lan external drive access problems
Hi to all, I hope someone could help me.... I have a small lan with a PC (WIN2000 sp4), an external rj45 hard disk and an oki printer, working perfectly, all connected through a zyxel p660hw-d1 router. the problem is when I connect a laptop with vista home premium: I can see the external drive, also access its root and see folders, but when I try to enter any of them it start the green bar up in the window and stand forever and ever...... I tried to ping the drive and it is there, all hardware is in the same workgroup, I have internet access in both computers, I've tried with static and dynamic IPs.... I also tried with another PC with vista ultimate, but I still have the same problem. I suppose it is some privilege / security issue, but cannot find out ..... Any idea out there???

There is a fix for this problem and it deal with Security. To access the NAS you have to say map the drive you have to ease the secutiry in Vista. What verison of Vista do you have? If you have Home premium you will need to use regedit and change the paramaeters NTLM 1. Run the registry editor and open this key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa1. If it doesn't already exist, create a DWORD value namedLmCompatibilityLevel3. Set the value to 14. Reboot
